A Comprehensive Solution for Industrial Grinding

Full range of sizes available to process from 1 to 150 tons per hour. WSM horizontal grinder systems deliver superior processing performance while minimizing maintenance and horsepower requirements. WSM Grinders can be used for a variety of applications ranging from biomass, pallet grinding, C&D to green waste.

Typical Applications:

  • Handling wood waste from sawmills including trim ends, edging, and slab wood.  Excellent feed control with space saving design with the ability to easily handle large/long materials.
  • Large sawmills and wood product facilities processing bark and wood waste from debarker and/or wood yard.  Also offers the ability to pre-screen using WSM’s vibrating infeed conveyor.
  • Green waste and land clearing debris for recycling and compost operations, including pre-processed wood stumps and logs.
  • Urban wood, pallets, pallet scrap, and construction/demolition wood waste at wood recycling facilities to make a variety of products including wood fuel, animal bedding, poultry bedding, mulch, and other value-added wood fiber products.

Automatic load sensing improves the handling of surge conditions.

The Most Efficient WSM Solution Yet : Built To Streamline Manufacturing

  • Larger diameter feed roll (from 12 to 16 inch diameter) allows for smoother feeding of materials into the grinder.
  • Designed to process offcuts of veneer, trim blocks, edgings, and any other wood waste.
  • The manually pivoting access door allows for easy access to perform routine maintenance and inspection of the machine.
  • No forklift or machine assistance is needed to change out screens.
  • The new power feed roll is integrated into the grinder as opposed to a separate stand-alone unit.
  • Our new unibody horizontal grinder can now be fed using a belt or vibrating conveyor.

Powered Infeed Mechanism is a key component in the horizontal grinding system, consisting of a pivoting steel frame around a powered feedroll mechanism. The frame adjusts using hydraulic cylinders maintaining positive downward pressure, while the feedroll aggressively grips the material to provide a positive, consistent, and controlled flow of material to the grinder.

Hammer pins constructed from high strength alloy steel, with ends drilled and tapped for easier removal

Rotor assembly constructed with heavy-duty machined shaft, rotor discs, and alloy steel hammer pins

Abrasion-resistant steel screen bars or perforated plates produce a finished product in a single pass. Available in a full range of sizes, screens are modular and interchangeable for extended wear life.

Removable bearing support blocks allow for bearing removal without lifting rotor assembly

Heavy-duty double row spherical roller bearings and pillow block bearing housings provide superior bearing life

The optional pivoting split front housing on larger units with dual hydraulic cylinders mounted on the sides of the machine provides for easy routine inspections and maintenance making the grinder faster, simpler, and safer to open.

Heavy-duty fabricated steel housing with massive frame doors for superior strength and wear life. Extra-heavy interior AR steel wear liners for extended machine life.

  • Optional infeed control unit (current limiter) automatically senses load to the grinder and helps maximize production rates (Not Shown)

  • Infeed conveyor transports material to the powered infeed mechanism. Conveyor options include vibrating, belt, and chain. Vibrating and belt conveyors can be provided with metal detection, fines screening, and removable infeed transition. Belt conveyors include a 'speed-up' roll for extended wear life. Large grinding systems use our multi-strand chain conveyor for direct loading of batch loads and reversing capabilities. 

  • Heavy-duty base with motor mount for single or dual drive motor(s) (Not Shown)

  • Options: Motor starter control package, Discharge conveyor with magnetic head drum
